Law Office of Robert C. Buckley, Esq.
I give one piece of advice to all of my SSD disability clients consistently. If they are uncertain about whether to proceed, I advise them to ask themselves one simple question: can I return to work in some form? If the answer is "yes" I advise them to abandon the disability process. For most people, working is simply much a better option financially. But if the answer is "no," I think they have an obligation to pursue an application and any appeals options available to them. Let's face it, as worker, you pay into social security so that if you become disabled you will have some benefits available to you. Therefore, if you know that you cannot return to work, you owe to yourself to pursue your disability benefits.
